Julian Gorton

Head Teacher

He has 35 years teaching experience working in various schools in Leeds. He has led Shakespeare for over 15 years on four different sites and most recently oversaw the transition to a three form entry school on the current site. He is passionate about ensuring that Shakespeare children receive an exceptional school experience so that all children have the opportunity to be the best they can be and achieve their full potential. He believes that success for children can only be served through working in partnership with parents and carers.

Julian sits on the strategic board for Leeds Well School Partnership which seeks to improve the sporting and activity opportunities for Leeds children.  He is also Chair of the local Family of Schools in Inner East Leeds and represents local Head Teachers on the Area Inclusion Partnership.

Julian is a father of 3 children - each of whom have enjoyed the benefits of attending schools in Leeds. His interests outside school include mountain biking, walking and playing squash.
