Perseus and the Gorgon
Over the last four weeks, the whole of Year Three has taken part in a fantastic drama experience based on the story of Perseus and the Gorgon. Pavla Beier from Leeds Playhouse visited each class in turn and presented action-packed dramatic experiences from this Greek myth.
We discussed the issues within the text and took part in role-plays. We pretended to be the Gorgons in the story and made our fiercest faces. We also pretended to be Perseus and discussed how we would escape from the evil Medusa. Each group had to present their own freeze-frame and give our thoughts aloud. It was great fun. It helped us develop our language as we orally rehearsed what we had to say.
Pavla was on the hot-seat as Perseus, one of the main characters and we asked her questions in role. This allowed us to understand the story and we illustrated the problems that Perseus faced whilst trying to get back to his homeland.
We had great fun. There are some very talented actors in Year three. Watch this space for the Oscar winners of the future!
