September in Year Five and Six

In what feels like the blink of an eye, a month has passed already. A month crammed full of fantastic learning in Year 5 and 6 as they began their new projects: Sow, Grow, Feed and WW2.It’s been an incredibly busy start as both year groups have been out on trips, enhancing their learning and bringing it to life.

Year 5 explored local allotments in Leeds learning about how to grow their own vegetables and even got to try some organic produce! Then, as if that wasn’t enough, they travelled to Skelton Grange where they explored how plants grow and reproduce, how different insects and amphibians' life cycles occur and looked at the individual features of flowering plants.

Meanwhile, Year 6 have been viewing life through the eyes of a 1940’s evacuee during the Second World War, visiting Eden Camp and experiencing just how hard life must have been during some of Britain’s biggest battles – The Blitz, D-Day and the Battle of Britain. And there’s still much, much more to come!
